Adrian Edmondson pulled out of a 'Bottom' reunion because he finds Rik Mayall so annoying to work with.
The comedy actors have a long working relationship, having starred alongside each other since the 1980s in 'The Young Ones', 'The Comic Strip' and 'Bottom', but Ade has not been seeing eye to eye with Rik creatively of late.
He told The Sun newspaper: "I gave up working with Rik about 10 years ago.
"I love Rik deeply but he's also the most annoying person in the world and it wasn't worth the damage to carry on.
"It's occasionally blindingly hilarious and occasionally really frustrating. Well, not occasionally. It's either of those things. That's all. It's either hilarious or really frustrating."
The duo had started work on a new series of slapstick show 'Bottom' - about a pair of cartoon-like housemates, who are regularly violent toward one another - but Ade, 56, walked away after writing just two episodes.
He added: "I love 'Bottom' but we'd been working together for nearly 30 years by that point and I thought 'there's other stuff I want to do'."
Rik, 55, has previously said he was desperate to bring 'Bottom' back to screens.
He said: "Of course, I f***ing tried to persuade him to change his mind. But if he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to.
"I'm desperate to do it. I thought it would be lovely to have them in a different situation and being much older.
"But I think Ade thought we shouldn't repeat what we'd done."
