Terra Diablo - album review (4 stars)

Terra Diablo

Deluge Songs

Suddenly losing a member to the biggest band in the country would dent the confidence of even the most self-assured act. Yet there’s no evidence of musical jitters on this second album from Terra Diablo, who, despite the defection of guitarist Paul Wilson to Snow Patrol in 2005, are back sounding mightier than ever. From the growling riffs, grimy vocals and pummelled drums of stunning opener ‘Captain of Simpletons’ to the beautifully woozy harmonies and soaring chorus of epic ballad ‘Walked Away’, Deluge Songs is a thrilling and utterly compelling effort from the Glasgow foursome. It’s hard to believe we ever doubted them. (Camilla Pia)
