Sir Tom Jones is set to quit 'The Voice', but show bosses have struck up a charm offensive to stop the star from bailing out of the third series
Sir Tom Jones is set to quit 'The Voice'.
The 73-year-old singer - who won the first series of the BBC One show with act Leanne Mitchell - is keen to follow in the footsteps of his fellow judges Jessie J and Danny O'Donoghue, but bosses have struck up a charm offensive to stop the star from bailing out of the third series.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Tom leaving would be another massive blow for 'The Voice'. His credibility is a huge asset and he would be very hard to replace.
"A third star deserting the show would also give the impression it is a sinking ship.
"And if will.i.am was left the last man standing it could affect how he feels about signing up."
However, the rapper was recently tipped to take the third seat on the judging panel of 'American Idol', meaning he could ditch 'The Voice' for his new position in the US.
The 'Price Tag' hitmaker was the first coach to step away from the singing competition as she wanted to focus on her own music career and promote her second album.
She said previously in a statement on Twitter: "I've absolutely loved my time on 'The Voice', and I hope everyone saw and knows how passionately I felt about the show.
"I can't wait to promote my new record around the world and that has to take priority. I shall be keeping a very close eye on series three, showing my support in every way I can, and really hope that in some way that I can be part of the show."
