Katy Perry says her fourth album 'Prism' is going to contain more adult themes than her previous releases
Katy Perry is "pleased" with the new "mature" album she's making.
The singer is working on her fourth studio album, 'PRISM', and she has revealed the LP will have more adult themes than her previous pop releases.
She said: "I am plenty pleased with everything I'm writing. And it's, you know, I think it's going to be a little bit more of a mature version of "Teenage Dream. I call it adult reality show."
Katy is at the stage now in her music career where she has the final say on her tracks and she's enjoying having more control in the studio.
She explained to ABC: "I'm like the director in where I'm at in music right now. I get the final cut."
The 28-year-old superstar has voiced the character of Smurfette again in 'The Smurfs 2' and she believes the children's themes contains themes that are relevant in her own life.
Katy said: "She has an identity crisis. It's a growing pains thing. Who am I? Where do I come from? Does it matter what situation I was born into? Can I change my environment? You can. I came from nothing. No one in my family is musical. I worked really hard and had this persistence."
The multi-talented star finds it easy to switch between her singing voice and her Smurfette impression, and on occasion likes to take the character home.
She said: "I do it every once in a while at dinner parties. Like I have hidden personalities inside of me. It's unlike my singing voice. I warm up and use lotions and potions. When I'm Smurfette, I don't warm up. And I can drink coffee. It's a little more raspy and gravelly. More tomboy sounding."
'PRISM' will be released on October 22.
