Lady Gaga is launching a free app to coincide with her 'ARTPOP' album's release.

The 27-year-old singer revealed details about the new interactive app during a Twitter chat with fans, explaining it can be downloaded via iTunes and Google Play from November 11, the same day as her third studio album goes on sale.

Gaga wrote on Twitter: "The ARTPOP app is Free, available in App Stores on your device. You can purchase the music through the ARTPOP app once it's downloaded."

She added: "Or you can purchase the album at the music store+download the free app separately at the app store. -GAGA (sic)"

The pop superstar revealed the app would be available to her fans - who she affectionately dubs Little Monsters - worldwide, and enable them to communicate with each other.

Gaga cryptically explained: "The APP is in essence, an interactive jewel case. (sic)"

The 'Judas' hitmaker also appeared to reveal song lyrics from her next single, 'Applause', which she announced would debut at the same time as its accompanying music video on August 19.

She posted: "give me that thing that I love put your hands up make 'em touch A-P-P-L-A-U-S-E (sic)"

Gaga - who has spent months off stage due to hip surgery - will premiere 'Applause' live at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
