Emmerdale's Adam Barton is to be wrongly framed for murder.
The hunky farmer - played by Adam Thomas - finds himself being scrutinised by police when the true twisted killer Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) plants evidence to suggest that he was responsible for the brutal death of Alex Moss (Kurtis Stacey).
Speaking to SoapSquawk, Adam said: "It comes about because Alex's body is found, Cameron gets scared and basically points the police in the direction of Adam Barton." The young lad struggles to prove his innocence when villagers know that he has a possible motive after finding out Alex was engaging in secret sex sessions with his mum, Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb).
He said: "Adam's past - trying to kill Cain and the hit and run - nobody thinks he's innocent. It gets to the point when even his own mum doesn't believe him.
"They think Adam did it because Alex slept with Moira, Cameron uses that bit of information to his advantage.
"Weirdly the only person who believes he's innocent is Cain."
The 25-year-old actor is unsure how the storyline will plan out but admits his alter-ego is crushed when his whole world comes tumbling down.
He explained: "I don't know where it's going to go but at the minute he's in serious trouble. He's trying to plead his innocence but no-one will believe him.
"He knows he didn't do it, he's telling the police but they won't believe him.
"He feels lost and thinks he could go down for a murder he didn't commit."
