Our next live music showcase will take place at The Monarch, Camden on Thu 25 Jul 2013
The next ListLive event is approaching fast, and as ever there's a sterling line-up of up and coming music acts to entertain you. Dance-pop diva Bebe Black, soulful R&B star Sid Batham and alt.country rock outfit Die Mason Die are the acts who'll be gracing the stage of The Monarch, Camden on Thu 25 Jul – check out a sample of their music below.
Bebe Black
There's a dash of Nelly Furtado's vocal style in Bebe Black's delivery, but attempting to shoehorn this unique performer into any prefab pigeonholes just ain't gonna happen. Her mostly dance-flavoured accompaniments have an indie-ish sensibility, akin to Friendly Fires or Crystal Fighters, but there's some serious Kate Bush creativity fluttering around like a technicolour butterfly as well.
Sid Batham
Fluent in the language of modern, electronica-tinged R&B, Sid Batham's extraordinary vocals are matched by a twisting, pulsing mesh of digital beats and melodies, resulting in a style that touches on influences from Michael Jackson to Depeche Mode to La Roux.
Die Mason Die
Imagine if Cold War Kids' striking vocal wails were married to Fleet Foxes ear for harmony, Edwarde Sharpe's knack for a rousing melody and Bon Iver's unerring tendency for sensitivity. Bigamy aside, it sounds like a perfect mix of rootsy, indie Americana, if you ask us. It's also not a million miles from Die Mason Die's sound, if you'll forgive the mixed metaphor.
