Coronation Street's Katy Cavanagh has given birth to a baby boy.
The 39-year-old actress - who plays factory worker Julie Carp in the ITV soap - has welcomed her third child Jacobi into the world with her film maker husband Chris Jupe and has now vowed to fight against laws that could make Independent Midwives UK illegal - a firm that operates outside of the NHS - after she used the service to deliver her newborn at home.
New Government legislation could see the home service abolished if they can't provide proof that they have the suitable insurance, which is tricky to get.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Katy said: "It's vital women have a choice of who cares for them during pregnancy and birth. I have nothing but praise for the NHS but they were unable to provide me with a known midwife or guarantee the birth of my choice."
Katy - who already has two children, Noah, nine, and six-year-old daughter Jemma - is expected to return to the Cobbles later in the year after she was written out by directors a few months ago following her maternity leave.
