Daniel Coonan hasn't had a day off since joining 'EastEnders' and can't wait to go visit his mum when he gets the time.

'EastEnders' star Daniel Coonan misses his mum during filming.

The 38-year-old actor is still yet to have a day off since joining the BBC One soap as bad boy Carl White last month, but plans to head straight back home to Plymouth, Devon, to visit his mother the second he gets some free time away from set.

He told The Sun newspaper: "It's 12-hour days every day, then you go home and learn lines. My life revolves around the show now.

"They gave me one day off so I'm going to see my mum. And I'll probably grab a pasty."

Daniel - whose character is the ex-boyfriend of Kirsty Branning (Kierston Wareing) - has only just stepped onto Albert Square but is already having a big impact on the show and will soon be involved in a major stunt, which has cost bosses £1 million to make.

His alter-ego will leave Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) fighting for his life after he crashes their motor en route to do a dodgy deal.

Upon joining the long-running show, Daniel hinted his character Carl would be one of the most "exciting" villains the soap has ever seen.

He said: "There's that old saying about the Devil having all the best tunes. Carl is so exciting to play because you just never know what he's going to do next.

"The Square has seen some major villains over the years, and Carl is right up there with them."
