Danny Dyer is to appear on a new series of '8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown'.

The 'Football Factor' star - who is known for his comical outbursts on Twitter - will sit next to Susie Dent in Countdown's dictionary corner on the Channel 4 show after a new six-part season was commissioned.

Jimmy Carr is returning to host the comedy quiz programme - which first launched as part of the channel's 'Mash-up' project in 2012, while Rhod Gilbert and Jason Manford will also appear in the first episode.

Madeleine Knight, Entertainment Commissioning Editor, said: "Originally commissioned as part of the Channel 4 Mash Up night, '8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown' has proved it deserves a run of its own. This combination of two of Channel 4's favourite shows brings together the best of both. It's a treat."

Sean Lock and Jon Richardson, who are regular team captains on '8 Out of 10 Cats', will put their skills to the test on Countdown's traditional words and numbers games, while Rachel Riley will also take on her familiar role as co-presenter and mathematician along with her assistant Joe Wilkinson.

Jack Dee and Sarah Millican will also appear as celebrity guests on the new series, which will launch on the channel this summer.
