The musician will appear solo and with Emma Johnson, playing music from Debussy, Ravel, Satie and more

The stunningly beautiful Paxton House on the banks of the Tweed in the Scottish Borders is a pleasure to visit at any time, but even more so when the annual Music at Paxton festival of chamber music is on. This year, highlights include French pianist Pascal Rogé, who gives two concerts, including a solo recital of the French repertoire he is renowned for, with music by Debussy, Ravel, Satie and, marking the 50th anniversary of his death, Poulenc. Rogé performs more French music in a joint recital with virtuoso clarinettist Emma Johnson. Paxton is around 1 hour from Edinburgh and it’s worth making the most of the trip by getting there for afternoon tea, supper, picnic or pre-concert drink.

Music at Paxton, Paxton House, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Fri 19--Sun 28 Jul. Pascal Rogé, Fri 26 Jul; Pascal Rogé with Emma Johnson, Sat 27 Jul.
