Maria Fowler had relationship troubles before suicide attempt
Maria Fowler admitted she attempted suicide last month after her relationship with James Morgan - who she is no longer with - hit the rocks
Maria Fowler had an argument with her boyfriend before she attempted suicide.
The former 'The Only Way is Essex' star - who tried to take her own life last month by overdosing on pain killers - admits she was in a "really dark place" at the time of the incident because her relationship with James Morgan - which has since ended - had hit the rocks.
Talking about the day she overdosed, she said: "I felt OK that morning and thought that maybe I'm over reacting and me and my partner at the time - we've split up now - were going through a rough patch, had an argument and I couldn't take it.
"I felt like I didn't want to die, but I didn't want to live. I just wanted it to stop. I was rock bottom... I did take pain killers and I was on my own. I was so lost. A really dark place."
The 26-year-old brunette beauty- who has previously been on anti-depressants - admits she jumps into new relationships as a distraction from her illness, but wishes she'd taken notice of the "warning signs" when she first started to feel emotionally uneasy.
She said: "I had the warning signs and I should've gone back on [medication]. I kind of thought that this is upsetting me and this is upsetting me and that's why I feel like this because of those situations and not remembering that it's an illness that I've got and that's what making me not be able to cope."
Maria - who was hospitalised for three days - is now back on anti-depressants and is throwing herself into promoting the awareness of mental health issues.
Speaking ITV's 'This Morning', she said: "I'm back on anti depressants and I'm just putting my head into this... it's my way of coping with it. There is something there that isn't going to go away really."
