Our next London-based live music showcase spans anthemic indie, electro-noir and rap/acoustic/spoken word types
Following a great turn-out at our debut ListLive event, we're looking forward to the next gig at The Purple Turtle, London on Fri 21 Jun. It's another varied line-up of some of the most exciting bands and artists on the rise at the moment, including anthemic indie boys Rubylux, solo synth-popper Caan and acoustic rap collective iAM1, as well as a DJ set from Shoot the Pony. Have a listen to a track by each of the bands playing below, and we'll see you at the front.
Rubylux - The World Goes Quiet
'The World Goes Quiet' is the latest release from Brighton-based four-piece Rubylux, who have spent the last five years building up a following in their home town by staging guerrilla open air gigs. The song, with its synth flourishes and jump-along chorus, brings to mind Killers, if Killers were slightly less showbiz/Mormon.
Caan - Into the Night
Caan's taste for the grime genre is prevalent in the immaculate production on single 'Into the Night' - the programmed beats and throbbing bassline suggest a Wiley-style verse in the pipeline, which is why Caan's surprisingly earnest vocal so effectively grabs your attention. That the whole thing morphs so fluidly into a perfect slice of brooding electro-noir shows how talented the ex-Ou Est La Swimming Pool member (ahem) caan be.
