Emmerdale to dedicate episode to Richard Thorp
An episode of 'Emmerdale' is to be dedicated to late actor Richard Thorp, who played Alan Turner in the soap for more than 30 years, following his death aged 81
'Emmerdale' is to dedicate an episode to Richard Thorp next week.
An hour-long edition on Tuesday (04.06.13) will pay tribute to the late actor, who died last week aged 81, as it features his final appearance as much-loved character Alan Turner - who he played for more than 30 years - a show spokesperson confirmed to Digital Spy.
Several of Richard's co-stars paid tribute to him following his passing including Natalie Anderson - who portrays brunette beauty Alicia Metcalfe - who described him as a "lovely, wonderful man".
She wrote on Twitter: "Just received the v sad news about the very lovely Richard Thorp!! What a truly lovely wonderful man!! As the biggest @emmerdale fan it was (sic)"
Former 'Emmerdale' actress Sheree Murphy - who played Tricia Dingle from 1998 to 2004 - also took to the social networking account to praise Richard.
She tweeted: "Devastated that the lovely Richard Thorp has passed away... He was such a wonderful,kind and thoughtful man.. He will be dearly missed.. (sic)"
Series Producer Kate Oates said: "Richard's death is a sad loss to 'Emmerdale', of which he was at the heart for so many wonderful years. Richard had a brilliant sense of humour and he will be missed by every single member of our production whose lives he touched."
