Joan Collins is making her return to TV in 'Benidorm'.
The 80-year-old actress has signed up to the next series of the ITV comedy to play stern hotel businesswoman Crystal, who soon becomes the enemy of Joyce Temple-Savage (Sherrie Hewson), and filming of the sixth season is scheduled to begin in the Spanish town next month
Sharing her excitement on Twitter, Joan wrote: "Looking forward to going to Spain to be in #Benidorm , And I'm playing Crystal' yes I am !! But not the dynasty one' (sic)"
Joan is best known for her role as ruthless Alexis Carrington in 80s show 'Dynasty' - in which her ex-husband Blake (John Forsythe) was married to her arch enemy Krystle Carrington (Linda Evans) - and producers on 'Benidorm' are thrilled to have such a big name join the award-winning sitcom.
A show insider told The Sun newspaper: "Show bosses are over the moon to have Joan on board for series six of the show.
"In coming up with Crystal, the show's creator Derren Litten has written a brilliant character for her. It's a huge honour to have an actress of her standing join us."
The legendary star's sister - author Jackie Collins - previously expressed her sibling's interest in having a role on the show after getting her hooked.
Writing a tweet to Derren in 2011 - who had recently quit the show at the time - Jackie said: "Benidorm is totally fab. My sis Joan Collins would love to do a guest shot on it. I got her addicted!!! (sic)"
To which he replied: "Joan Collins in Benidorm??!! I ain't gonna let ANYONE else write that. Looks like I'm coming back. (sic)"
Joan will join the likes of former 'Stars In Their Eyes' host Matthew Kelly reprising his role of Cyril Babcock and soap star Philip Olivier, whose character provides competition for hunky barman Mateo (Jake Canuso).
