Shameless cast shed tears filming final scenes
The cast of 'Shameless' failed to hide their emotion while filming the final scenes in the Channel 4 drama's 11th and last ever series.
The cast of 'Shameless' were in tears when they filmed the show's final scene.
Karen Bryson, who plays Avril Powell, revealed the actors in the long-running Channel 4 series couldn't hide their emotions after shooting the last ever episode - which airs tonight (28.05.13) - and she can't wait for viewers to see what happens to the Chatsworth estate residents in their final foray.
She said: "It was emotional - we were all in tears at the end.
"People ask me what's going to happen. Will Frank be shot or get sent to prison? Will there be a big explosion, with Chatsworth going up in flames? I want people to watch it and love it. It's a goodie."
David Threlfall - who portrays wasteful alcoholic Frank Gallagher and directs the show - gave the programme's stars a pep talk on the last day of filming the 11th and final series to get them through the emotional time.
Karen added to the Daily Star newspaper: "David keeps his cards close to his chest but he was so proud of the show and everybody who worked on it. 'Shameless' as a show is about community and that's what [writer] Paul Abbott had in mind.
"David didn't do a speech on the last day but he said lots to each of us individually. He's a genius. Both of them are.
"Can you ever imagine pitching a TV series where the lead is Frank Gallagher? But people love him. And he's the most unlikeable character you could ever meet."
Anne-Marie Duff - who play Frank's daughter Fiona McBride - returns for the final episode and admits she only came back to the show after drunkenly saying she would reprise her role.
She said: "I drunkenly agreed with one of the producers years ago when I was leaving that I would come back and do the last episode.
"Then I got the call and I just said yes without even thinking, because I have so much to thank 'Shameless' for. But because David Threlfall was directing I felt completely like it was our little capsule again.
"Jody [Latham] was there and Elliott [Tittensor] was back. And, of course, Dean Lennox Kelly was there too, so it was amazing."
The last ever 'Shameless' episode airs tonight on Channel 4 at 10pm.
