Katie McGlynn set for 'Coronation Street' deal
Katie McGlynn is set to become a regular star on 'Coronation Street' after impressing the show's bosses in her role as Chesney Brown's latest love interest
New 'Coronation Street' star Katie McGlynn is set to be given a regular spot on the show.
The 19-year-old star has impressed the soap's bosses thus far in her role as Sinead Tinker, the latest love interest of Chesney Brown, played by Sam Aston.
She has reportedly been given a six month deal and it seems there could be big plans for their characters.
The pair are seen by writers as the next Stan and Hilda Ogden, in reference to the long-standing on-screen couple played by Bernard Youens and Jean Alexander for two decades from 1964 until well into the 1980s.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It is a while since 'Corrie' had a couple like this - a decent old fashioned item."
Katie recently admitted she was "nervous" on her first day on set, but revealed her co-stars have helped her settle in.
She said: "I was very nervous, but everyone was lovely and it went okay. Sam Aston who plays Chesney is really friendly, and so is Georgia May Foote who plays Katy.
I'm getting along with both of them. Also, Lisa George - who plays my aunty Beth - is absolutely brilliant."
