Mariah Carey sings for Central Park
Mariah Carey gave a one-off concert to thousands of adoring fans in Central Park this morning as she kicked off the 'Good Morning America' summer concert series.
Mariah Carey sang a medley of her best loved songs on 'Good Morning America' today (24.05.13) and nearly suffered a wardrobe malfunction.
The '#Beautiful' singer launched the US breakfast TV show's annual summer concert series with a set featuring her biggest hits in New York's Central Park and was joined on stage by R&B star Miguel to perform her latest track.
Mariah dusted off old favourites including 1996's 'Always Be My Baby', while her most recent chart-topping smash hit 'We Belong Together' - which was number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks in 2005 - was a hit with the crowd, who braved the chilly temperature to see their idol.
To close the one-off gig, Mariah introduced a surprise guest - '#Beautiful' collaborator Miguel - to perform the song with her.
However, the performance - which aired on live TV - was nearly derailed by an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction when the back of Mariah's dress came apart while giving an interview.
She quipped to 'Good Morning America' co-host Lara Spencer: "Oh shoot, the back of my dress just popped! It popped, darling. What should we call this? The Central Park saga?"
The situation was contained, fortunately, when aides came to the 'Honey' hitmaker's rescue and after an impromptu commercial break, Mariah was ready to perform.
