Joey Essex in TOWIE quit threat
Joey Essex threatened to quit 'The Only Way Is Essex' after bosses refused his demands for more money, but his fiancee Sam Faiers persuaded him to stay.
Joey Essex threatened to quit 'The Only Way Is Essex' in a row over pay.
The 22-year-old star demanded a better deal from show bosses after becoming one of the programme's biggest stars, but they declined his request, arguing all cast members should receive the same terms.
A source said: "Joey is one of the biggest stars on 'TOWIE' and with that comes a lot of pressure, which he sometimes finds hard to take.
"His people asked bosses for an enhanced deal in order for him to stay, but producers held firm."
Joey eventually agreed to stay following an impassioned plea from fiancee Sam Faiers, who he got engaged to in Dubai at the end of the last series of the show.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Sam told him she really wanted him to stay on the show, and he has now agreed to return."
Joey and Sam first got together during the second series of the ITV2 show in 2011, but later split. They rekindled their romance last May and celebrated their first anniversary last Saturday (18.05.13).
Sam tweeted:"Only you can give me that feeling."
Joey replied: "Year anniversary today can't believe how quick it has gone."
The cast have flown out to Marbella, Spain this week, and the new series of the show starts on Sunday June 2 with two 'The Only Way is Marbs' special episodes.
