The hit comedy - which stars 'Downton Abbey' actor Brendan Coyle and 'Scott and Bailey' star Lesley Sharp - has been commissioned for a second series consisting of eight episodes.
Matt King and Steve Edge, who also write the show, will return for the new series as well, while three new actors have joined the cast including Una Stubbs, Cherie Lunghi and Vincent Regan.
The show follows the close-knit Starlings family - which includes Terry (Brendan) and Jan (Lesley) and their three children, Bell (Rebecca Night), Gravy (John Dagleish) and Charlie (Finn Atkins) - and their daily trials and tribulations living in Matlock, Derbyshire.
The latest series will see Terry and Jan's marriage put to the test when the arrival of Stephen (Vincent), Jan's new writing class tutor, rocks the boat.
Meanwhile, Una will play a mischievous old aged pensioner who befriends Grandad (Alan Williams) and Cherie will play a former flame of Terry and Jan's nephew Fergie (Steve).
'Starlings' opened to impressive ratings with just under one million viewers in May 2012, but dipped over the weeks to around 500,000 viewers each week.
