The final 'Dancing on Ice' tour will kick-off in March 2014 and Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have vowed to make it the "biggest and best" in the show's history

The final 'Dancing on Ice' tour will kick-off in March 2014.

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean - who train the competing couples - announced earlier today (21.05.13) the ITV skating show will come to an end next year, but they have vowed to make sure the tour is the "biggest and best" in the programme's history.

Torvill said: "Next year will be the 30th anniversary of Bolero and our Olympic Gold medal in Sarajevo, so for us, it seemed a fitting time to say goodbye to 'Dancing on Ice'. We wanted to go out on a high!

"But, we will not be retiring or hanging up our skates just yet. We are delighted to announce the last ever 'Dancing on Ice' UK arena tour, starting in March 2014.

"We can't wait to be back on the road and we're already planning the show. It will be the biggest and best tour we've done to date and there will be some great surprises for the audiences across the country - we hope you will come and see us."

The skating pair are grateful to the show for bringing them back together on the ice and are now keen to pursue other projects with their free time.

Speaking on ITV's 'This Morning', Torvill said: "It did bring us back together. We had quietly retired in 1998 and when the idea of the show came up we were so excited but we were a little bit nervous as well about what would happen - and who knew it would last for nine series.

"But it did bring us back together and it did get us back performing and we just enjoyed every second.

"There are other projects that we want to pursue and we don't always have the time to do it because 'Dancing on Ice' really takes up pretty much the whole year, even though its six months working on it."
