Kym Lomas wants to be a 'Coronation Street' "icon".
The 36-year-old actress is thrilled to have signed a new contract with the soap, seven years after she first signed on to play feisty factory boss Michelle Connor and hopes she can follow in the footsteps of soap idols including Julie Goodyear (Bet Lynch) and Pat Phoenix (Elsie Tanner).
She said: "I'm really happy. I've just signed for another year and that takes me to my eighth year. It has gone so fast.
"I'll try to stay as long as I can. I would love to become a Corrie icon."
Kym's character Michelle - who is mother to wayward Ryan (Ben Thompson) - is currently dating Steve McDonald, and while the actress loves sharing scenes with Simon Gregson, who plays the taxi firm boss, and wants them to stay together, she doesn't want to have any more screen kids.
She said: "I always said I never wanted Michelle to settle down but Simon and I love working together.
"We have a bit of a giggle so I'd hate it if they split us up now.
"Working with kids and animals is never the thing.
"There are great storylines with Ryan who is always causing Michelle problems. I'd like more of the same, that's for sure."
