Louis Walsh thinks Sharon Osbourne can save 'The X Factor'.

The music mogul says the returning judge has "been dying to come back" since her departure in 2007 and he suggested her "loose cannon" personality will help the TV singing competition maintain and improve its viewership.

He told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "She's been dying to come back since she left and she knows she made a big mistake leaving.

I think she can be a real shot in the arm for the show. She's a loose cannon but she's never, ever boring and that's what we need."

The 60-year-old star also warned fans while they can expect fireworks when Sharon returns, he insisted he won't the one going out looking for drama.

He added: "I've no plans to throw a glass of water over Sharon's head like she did to me on series two.

"We actually became very good friends after that. In fact, Sharon is one of the few people who calls me on a regular basis."

Louis also fuelled speculation surrounding the remaining members of the judging panel, noting he expected two mentors to return from the previous series.

He revealed: "It's me, Sharon, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger as far as I know."
