Coronation Street is big winner at British Soap Awards

'Coronation Street' picked up eight awards, including Best Soap, at the British Soap Awards 2013 on Saturday (18.05.13) while Hollyoaks won five, Emmerdale took home two and EastEnders was presented with one award

'Coronation Street' won eight awards, including Best Soap, at the British Soap Awards 2013 on Saturday (18.05.13).

Michelle Keegan took home the Sexiest Female gong, Natalie Gumede won for both Best Dramatic Performance and Villian of the Year, Best Actor went to Alan Halsall, Nigel Havers picked up an award for Best Exit and Patti Clare won for Best Comedy Performance while Kirsty's abuse of Tyrone was voted Best Storyline.

'Sex And The City' actor Chris Noth presented the Best Soap Award at the ceremony which took place at Media City in Salford, Manchester.

'Hollyoaks' left with a total of five awards, with Danny Mac winning Sexiest Male, Claire Cooper honoured as Best Actress, Joseph Thompson taking home the Best Newcomer trophy and Best On-Screen Partnership going to Kieron Richardson and Emmett J Scanlan.

The show also won Spectacular Scene of the Year for its dramatic bus crash.

'Emmerdale' won two awards, Best Single Episode for its live 40th anniversary special and Best Young Performance for Eden Taylor-Draper.

Meanwhile, 'Coronation Street's rival 'EastEnders' only managed one award, where veteran Adam Woodyatt was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Gillian Taylforth.

The British Soap Awards 2013 will air on Sunday (19.05.13) at 8pm on ITV followed by The British Soap Awards 2013: The Party at 10pm on ITV2.
