Cannes jury enjoy Spielberg inspired dinner
The Cannes jury, led by Steven Spielberg, enjoyed a three course dinner inspired by his best loved movies as they gathered for the first time on Tuesday (14.05.13).
The Cannes Film Festival jury met for the first time last night (14.05.13).
The panel - who will decide which competition film wins the prestigious Palme d'Or prize at the annual film gala - convened in the seaside city for dinner on Tuesday at the Martinez Hotel's aptly titled Palme d'Or restaurant ahead of the launch of the festival today (15.05.13).
The jury, which is being led by 'Lincoln' director Steven Spielberg, enjoyed a three-course dinner inspired by some of the filmmaker's best loved films such as 'Jaws' and 'Jurassic Park'.
Other jury members thought to be at the dinner include 'Life of Pi' director Ang Lee, 'Stoker' actress Nicole Kidman and 'Django Unchained' actor Christoph Waltz.
The themed dinner is just a small example of the extravagance planned for the 12-day festival, which will kick off tonight with Baz Luhrmann's opulent drama 'The Great Gatsby' serving as the opening film.
All of the film's cast are expected to be in attendance including Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton and Isla Fisher.
The European premiere of the film will be followed by a lavish Roaring Twenties themed after party which will feature goodies provided luxury brands Samsung, Tiffany, Moët, Brook Brothers and Chivas, according to Deadline.
Meanwhile, Lionsgate will attempt to rival the 'Gatsby' party with its own highly anticipated beach party on Saturday (18.05.13) to celebrate its forthcoming action flick, 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire', and the film's Oscar-winning lead actress Jennifer Lawrence is expected to attend.
