Tamzin Outhwaite is set to star in hit drama 'New Tricks'.
The 42-year-old actress - who has bagged main parts in 'EastEnders', 'Hotel Babylon' and 'The Fixer' - has landed the leading role as DCI Sarah Millard and will get the chance to put her previous policing experience to good practice as she becomes the new boss of UCOS Metropolitan Police.
She said: "I'm delighted to be joining the cast at such an exciting time - I've been a huge fan of the show for years - and can't wait to be working with the amazing cast and crew."
Tamzin will star alongside Dennis Waterman (Gary Standing), Denis Lawson (Steve McAndrew) and Nicholas Lyndhurst (Brian Lane) as her feisty character attempts to manage a team of unconventional former police officers who use unorthodox methods as they re-investigate the Met's unsolved crimes.
Polly Hill, Executive Producer of the BBC, said: "We realise how well-loved 'New Tricks' is, so we are thrilled that Tamzin is going to be joining the cast.
"We are sure the New Tricks audience will enjoy seeing Tamzin taking charge of the UCOS team and her arrival completes a great new cast for the show."
The final of the 10-part series is set to be explosive as Amanda Redman - who is currently starring as Detective Superintendent Sandra Pullman in fictional drama - will return with the rest of the gang in the first eight episodes and Tamzin will star in the final two episodes of the series this autumn.
Richard Burrell, Executive Producer, Wall To Wall, explained: "Having another popular and talented actress to lead the team is fantastic for us and the viewing public."
