Sky Arts has commissioned a series of its one-off show 'Playhouse Presents ... Psychobitches'.

A five-part season of the comedy - which puts history's most iconic women in the psychiatrist's chair and shines a light on their psychoses and obsessions - has been given the go-ahead after it originally aired as a one-off episode as part of the channel's 'Playhouse Presents...' series of self-contained plays.

The 30-minute episodes - which have been co-written and directed by Jeremy Dyson - will star Rebecca Front as the discerning therapist, Julia Davis as Enid Blyton, Sharon Horgan as Eve and Sam Spiro as Audrey Hepburn.

Jack Whitehall will also feature in 'Psychobitches', which will get off to an exploding start with a diva scrap, squabbling between the Bronte sisters and a less than cheery Sylvia Plath, who is played by Julia.

Episode two sees an equally eccentric line up with Steve Pemberton playing an unusually gruff Dian Fossey.

What's more, Katy Brand's pork pie-munching Diana Dors will be confronted by Sam's glamorous portrayal of Marilyn Monroe, while Sharon gives her take on a brooding Virginia Woolf and a love-struck Cleopatra.

'Playhouse Presents ... Psychobitches' will air on Sky Arts 1 HD on May 30 at 9pm.
