Jon Hamm has signed up for 3D animated comedy 'Minions'.
The 'Mad Men' star is set to lend his voice to the role of inventor Herb Overkill in the forthcoming Universal Pictures movie and Sandra Bullock will voice his on-screen wife, super-villain Scarlet Overkill.
The film - a spin-off of the 'Despicable Me' franchise - is set for release on December 19, 2014, and tells the story of the titular characters, who have served the most evil villains in the world since the beginning of time, Deadline reports.
Based in the 1960s, the motion picture sees three of the Minions winding up at a villain convention in an attempt to find a new evil master.
The trio set their sights on becoming henchmen for Scarlet, who is aiming to become the world's first female super-villain.
Illumination Entertainment's Chris Meledandri will produce the movie alongside Janet Healy, with Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda set to direct the project. Brian Lynch has penned the screenplay and Chris Renaud will be executive producer.
'Despicable Me 2' - a follow up to 2010's comedy animation 'Despicable Me' - will see Steve Carell, Russell Brand and Miranda Cosgrove will reprise their roles when the movie is released in June 2013.
