The 'Oblivion' actress has signed on to play headmistress Kirova in The Weinstein Company's movie adaptation of Richelle Mead's best-selling book series, reports Deadline.
The supernatural books centre on a young girl, Rose Hathaway, who develops an unbreakable bond with her vampire best friend, Vasilisa 'Lissa' Dragomir, while they study together at a special school which trains bloodsuckers on how to retain their humanity. As well as her friendship with Lissa, Rose finds herself in a forbidden romance with her hunky instructor Dimitri Beliko.
'Beautiful Creatures' actress Zoey Deutch is set to play the protagonist, while Australian actress Lucy Fry has been cast in the role of Lissa and Russian actor Danila Kozlovski will play Dimitri.
'Mean Girls' and 'Freaky Friday' director Mark Waters is set to helm the flick based on a script from Daniel Waters.
Six books in the 'Vampire Academy' series have been published since 2007, all of which have become New York Times best-sellers.
Kurylenko recently starred alongside Tom Cruise in hit sci-fi thriller 'Oblivion' and has just finished work on Michael French's 'Empires of the Deep'.
'Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters' will begin filming in late May.
