'The Voice' contestant Lareena Mitchell wants to achieve the success of her idol Adele after securing herself on Sir Tom Jones' team following Saturday night's (27.04.13) audition.
'The Voice' contestant Lareena Mitchell wants to achieve the success of Adele.
The wannabe singer impressed judge Sir Tom Jones with her rendition of Annie Lennox's 'Walking On Broken Glass' on Saturday night (27.04.13), securing herself a spot in his team.
Although viewers turned nasty after a clip was played showing the mum-of-two performing a tribute act to the 'Someone Like You' hitmaker, posting bitter comments on the internet, Lareena remains positive about her achievement.
Lareena said: "Oh, that's water off a duck's back. I don't think you should let things like that get you down.
"I've also had loads of support. Since the show went out my Twitter and Facebook have gone mad - it's really overwhelming.
"[Adele's] definitely my idol. But obviously I have my own voice and style too - that's what I'm excited about showing off."
Lareena has regularly been booked for weddings and other events since she began singing at 15 and auditioned for 'Britain's Got Talent' and 'The X Factor' before making it through on the BBC One show.
She added to The Sun newspaper: "I'd been rejected so many times before that when it came to the day before my 'Voice' audition, I thought I'd be wasting my time.
"But my husband Steven talked me round and I decided this would be it - this was my last chance."
Despite the nerves, Lareena was scooped up by Tom rather than other judges Jessie J, will.i.am and Jessie J.
She gushed: "It was the most nervous I've ever been in my life - and in my mind I thought I'd blown it.
"So when Tom turned around it was a completely shock - and one of the best moments in my life."
