Armie Hammer has joined the cast of 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'
The 'Lone Ranger' actor will star alongside Tom Cruise in director Guy Ritchie's big screen remake of the secret agent TV series, reports Deadline.
The original TV show - which ran from 1964 to 1968 and starred Robert Vaughan and David McCallum - followed two spies for the United Network Command for Law Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.) who fought villainous group Thrush using their charm and gadgets.
The film project has long been in development at movie studio Warner Bros., who originally hired 'Magic Mike' helmer Steven Soderbergh to direct with George Clooney eyed as the star. However, the actor dropped out of the role after having surgery and the director soon followed.
Hammer will next be seen in Disney's 'The Lone Ranger', playing the title character in Gore Verbinski's big budget blockbuster, while Johnny Depp will play his sidekick Tonto.
The Western film follows a man of the law who tries to fight corruption and greed with his unlikely partner.
The flick reunites the team behind the lucrative 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise, including star Depp, director Verbinski, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
