Mel Giedroyc is to host new daytime game show 'Draw It!'.

Channel 4 has confirmed the TV presenter will front the forthcoming programme - which is based on popular mobile phone application 'Draw Something' - and she "can't wait" to get started on the project.

She said: "Everyone loves a bit of doodling. As I speak I'm doodling and look what I've drawn - Alan Carr on a horse. I can't wait to doodle with the contestants and celebrities."

The show sees two teams - each made up of one contestant and one celebrity - go up against each other in a series of drawing challenges with the eventual winner going on to work with both celebrities for the final round in an attempt to win £5,000.

One contestant draws a picture for their partner, who then has to try to correct guess the image, in a similar format to the mobile phone app.

The contestant with the fewest number of points after three rounds will be eliminated leaving one contestant to test their sketching skills against a 90-second clock in a bid to win the prize.

More than 8,000 people have already applied to go on the show, many through the 'Draw Something' app.
