Coronation Street's Price family have had their contracts extended by one year.
The female relatives - Stella, Eva, Gloria and Leanne Tilsley - are to remain on the Weatherfield cobbles for the foreseeable as the show's producers have begun writing a selection of new exciting storylines, which put them in the thick of the action.
While Stella (Michelle Collins) has reinstated her romance with Karl Munro (John Michie) after the Rovers Return fire, which he started and saved her from, Eva (Catherine Tyldesley), Gloria (Sue Johnston) and Leanne (Jane Danson) are to soon have their own dramatic plots to push them into the limelight.
A show source told The Sun newspaper: "Leanne has been on the show for years but the rest of the Prices are all pretty new and, after some early teething problems, have become a real success story.
"Gloria's meddling behaviour is hugely popular with viewers. Eva's great and Catherine has turned into one of the biggest stars on the Street now.
"Michelle got a lot of stick over her northern accent when she first arrived. But she's come into her own and everyone is delighted she's staying."
Although the clan - excluding Leanne - only joined the ITV soap in June 2011, with Gloria returning last year after initially appearing in 1977, they have already become the "dream" family for screenwriters to write for.
The source added: "The Price family are a proper 'Corrie' clan. There are three generations under one roof. They've all got stuff in their past and are in and out of relationships which makes them an absolute dream for the writers.
"The possibilities are endless and they are going to become central to the show, hopefully for years to come."
