Corrie's Tina to go into labour in the Rovers Return
Coronation Street beauty Tina McIntyre will go into early labour during one of her barmaid shifts in the Rovers Return pub, which sparks speculation she has been dating Gary Windass after he makes a fuss over her
Coronation Street's Tina McIntyre is set to go into early labour in the Rovers Return pub.
The pregnant barmaid - who is a surrogate for Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) - will start giving birth to the baby Jake, who has to remain in hospital initially because he is too small to go home, during one of her shifts at the newly refurbished boozer.
But her pregnancy sparks speculation the brunette beauty - who is played by Michelle Keegan - has been secretly dating flame-haired builder Gary when he pays her a lot of attention while she is in labour with his little one.
Gloria Price (Sue Johnston) says: "I don't know why they didn't just leave her. It's not the first time a baby has been delivered on the premises."
Weatherfield veteran Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor) then gets the rumour mill going when she claims to have heard gossip the pair have been seeing each other.
She says: "Guess what we've found out. Gary and Tina have been having an affair. That's what Izzy said, he didn't exactly deny it."
Nosy neighbour Norris Cole - who is portrayed by Malcolm Hebden - weighs in: "How's he going to know which one is his mother?"
News of the baby drama comes shortly after 25-year-old Michelle - who has portrayed the feisty fitty since 2007 - announced she is leaving 'Coronation Street' next May to focus on other acting roles.
She said in a statement: "I have had the most amazing six years at 'Coronation Street' and it was such a difficult decision to leave. But I felt it was the right time for me to make the next step in my career.
"I will miss Tina and will always be grateful to ITV and 'Coronation Street' for giving me such an amazing role to play for my first ever acting job.
"Most of all I will miss the amazing people who work on the show, my acting colleagues, cast, crew, producers and writing team. I have met people who I know will be friends for life."
