Danny Miller found it "nerve-racking" to join 'Scott & Bailey'.
The former 'Emmerdale' actor stars alongside Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp in the third series of the hit ITV detective drama and found it difficult to fit in at first as the cast and crew had already worked together on the prior two series.
He said: "It was nerve-racking, like the first day of school. Joining such an established and incredible cast - Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp are such brilliant actors. I was a bit nervous but they welcomed me with open arms."
The actor sees similarities between his character and himself because they are both starting new jobs.
Speaking on his mysterious alter-ego, he said: "I suppose he is [mysterious] and that's maybe because he's starting a new job, too. What he's going through in the show is what it was like for me joining 'Scott & Bailey.' "
Danny is best known for playing gay mechanic Aaron Livesy in ITV soap 'Emmerdale', a role he left after four years in 2012, and admits he misses the cast and crew.
He added to heat magazine: "It was a big part of my life. I was sad to leave but I had to spread my wings."
