Michelle Keegan set for Corrie exit?
Michelle Keegan is reportedly leaving 'Coronation Street' to try new roles after six years as Tina McIntyre on the soap and wants to do "what is best for her career"
Michelle Keegan is reportedly quitting 'Coronation Street'.
The actress - who has played Tina McIntyre since 2007 - wants to help her career by trying new roles and won't be leaving the soap because of her relationship with 'The Only Way Is Essex' star Mark Wright.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "This is totally Michelle's decision and what is best for her career.
"It has nothing to do with wanting to spend more time with Mark."
It is said the 25-year-old star wanted to leave once her contract ends in November, but show bosses persuaded her to stay for a big exit.
Michelle is "grateful" for the opportunities 'Coronation Street' has given her, but it's reported she is ready to move on.
An insider added: "This was her first proper acting job. She is really grateful for that, but feels the time's right to do something new."
She recently spoke of her ambitions and revealed her plans to appear on "something like" 'Downton Abbey'.
She said: "I really want to do a period drama - something like 'The Tudors' or 'Downton Abbey'."
