Brian Friedman: 'X Factor needs top judges'
'The X Factor' creative director Brian Friedman has revealed that the show should hire top music stars such as Beyonce to fill the judging panel like 'The Voice'
Brian Friedman thinks 'The X Factor' needs "successful artists" on the judging panel.
The show's creative director feels the ITV singing competition - which saw a ratings decline last year - should take cues from its rival reality show 'The Voice' and hire global acts to fill its vacant judging spots.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the UK premiere of 'Iron Man 3' in London's Leicester Square last night (18.04.13), he said: "I like seeing successful artists in the spot of judges. Other shows in the States right now that are vocal shows are doing very well and I think it's because they've got a great line-up of mentors/judges that really know what they're talking about."
In the US, 'The Voice' coaches include Usher and Shakira, 'American Idol' has Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, while the last series of 'The X Factor' had Demi Lovato and Britney Spears.
Brian feels 'Girls (Run the World)' singer Beyonce and 'Try' hitmaker Pink would be "incredible" on 'The X Factor', but would also like to see former judges Sharon Osbourne and Cheryl Cole return.
He added: "I love hearing Sharon's name back in the mix for the show. I was really upset when Cheryl was pulled off the US version, so I would love to see Cheryl back.
"I think Beyonce would make an incredible judge on any show. It would be great to have her involved. Pink, I think she'd make an incredible judge but I think she's on tour for the next year or so. Noel Gallagher, he would make a great judge as well. He's very wise; he's got the background to do it."
