Corrie star Paula Lane wants to be 'challenged'
'Coronation Street' actress Paula Lane has hinted she could quit the soap if her character Kyle Platt isn't placed in "tougher" storylines.
Paula Lane has hinted at a 'Coronation Street' exit if she isn't "challenged" with her storylines.
The actress - who plays Kylie Platt in the soap - insisted she still loves the show but wouldn't confirm whether she would sign a new contract in the summer.
She said: "I love Corrie. I am contracted up until June and there is talk of more but I made it clear I want to be challenged."
The 26-year-old star is currently in a storyline in which her character is pregnant but doesn't know who the father is and revealed she is desperate for something "tougher" to push her acting abilities.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, she added: "I'd love a tougher story, but the stuff that's coming up, viewers won't guess it. I didn't."
Paula hinted her current position on the soap doesn't fulfil her own career ambitions and suggested she'd enjoy a change of pace once her time on 'Coronation Street' comes to an end, even a move to stage acting.
She admitted: "I didn't go to drama school for nothing. I look at other dramas and think, 'I'd love to do that' ... something like 'Mr Selfridge' or sci-fi or theatre."
