Alan Carr signs £4m Channel 4 extension
Alan Carr has put pen to paper on a £4 million deal with Channel 4, which will see his contract extended until 2015
Alan Carr has signed a two-year extension to his Channel 4 contract in a £4 million deal.
The 'Chatty Man' host will remain on the channel until at least 2015 after putting pen to paper on a new contract, but ITV reportedly launched a late bid to try to land him after 'The Jonathan Ross Show' suffered a ratings slide last week to 2.25 million viewers, the host's second lowest ever.
A TV source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "ITV felt they could make him even more mainstream and popular and pull in five million viewers with his shows. But for now, their only chat show host is Wossy."
Alan - who will celebrate his new deal with his 100th 'Chatty Man' episode later this year - admitted he is delighted to have signed a contract extension.
He said: "I'm ecstatic - I love being on Channel 4 where I can be myself and let my hair down, what's left of it."
Justin Gorman, Channel 4's Head of entertainment, also said he is "chuffed" Alan - who will interview former soccer star Paul Gascoigne on his show this weekend - will remain with the broadcaster until 2015.
He added: "Alan's warm, witty and a little bit wild. We look forward to celebrating, over a sherry or two, his 100th episode of 'Chatty Man', later in the year."
