Duncan Bannatyne: I wish I was Simon Cowell
Duncan Bannatyne would love to be Simon Cowell to have his "great knowledge" of the music industry
Duncan Bannatyne wishes he was Simon Cowell.
The 'Dragons' Den' star - who has a record label called Bannatyne Music and is managing a new boy band called Reconnected - is envious of the 'X Factor' boss' knowledge of the music industry and would love to be able to spot successful future groups.
He said: "I wish had his great knowledge of music. But it's still interesting just to be involved, to see these guys sing and put a record out.
"I don't have any creative control. I've been in the studio, but I leave it to the boys.
"People keep saying, 'Duncan Bannatyne, the egotistical Scotsman, has a record label called Bannatyne Music. What a stupid name!' But it's publicity and it sells records, so I'm happy with it."
While Duncan would love to be Simon, he doesn't ever think he could be a panellist on a show such as 'The X Factor' because all music sounds "good" to him.
He added to Nuts magazine: "I don't think I could ever be a judge on a music show. I can't hear music as well as the experts. I can hear them when they're good, but I don't hear the bum notes. It all sounds good to me.
"You have to be a real expert on listening to music to be a judge."
