Ryan Gosling says his role as a tattooed stunt biker in 'The Place behind the Pines' is the part he's been waiting for
Ryan Gosling has landed his dream role - playing a tattooed bad boy.
The 32-year-old Canadian actor was catapulted to international fame following his role in the 2004 tear jerker 'The Notebook', but his latest part as a bank robbing stunt biker in 'The Place behind the Pines' is the role he's been waiting for since he was a kid.
Ryan said: "I loved making this movie. Initially, I just thought I got to rob banks on a bike, but actually it goes much, more deeper than that."
The film follows three interconnected story lines, the first two featuring a pair of fathers, one being Gosling who plays a cool, bruised and heavily tattooed motorcyclist.
It is not until opportunity knocks when Ryan's character takes a turn and becomes a more than able bank robber.
Ryan admits he has been thinking about what it would be like to rob a bank his for as long as he can remember.
He said: " I've been thinking of a bank robbery my whole life and I finally got to do it."
Although Gosling enjoyed the hold-up scenes he found it hard to stay in character because they were filmed in a real bank with actual employees who were happy to see him.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph newspaper, he said: "I'm there with the gun and I look down and people are just smiling. They were just enjoying the show and I think I spotted someone filming me on their camera phone as I robbed the place."
