Natalie Gumede 'exhausted' after Coronation Street
Natalie Gumede has been left "exhausted" after filming her final scenes as Kirsty Soames in 'Coronation Street' due to her extremely "intense" storylines.
Natalie Gumede has been left "exhausted" after 'Coronation Street'.
The 29-year-old actress will make her final appearance as violent former policewoman Kirsty Soames in the ITV soap tonight (03.04.13), as she tries to beg her ex-fiancé Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) for forgiveness after she wrongly accused him of domestic abuse.
While she enjoyed her time on the Weatherfield cobbles, Natalie admits she is shattered after filming the "very intense" and emotional scenes, which required her to succumb to the troubled life of the unstable mother.
She told The Sun newspaper: "The last few weeks of filming were very intense and exhausting. And I had been in tears every other day for about six months beforehand.
"The devastating life of turmoil that Kirsty leads requires that input - that complete giving up of oneself to this character."
Natalie doesn't, however, regret the stress of getting into character as she knows her whole-hearted input helped make the role more convincing to viewers of the popular show.
She added: "I'm not complaining, because that's the way the character has to be played. If I had gone at it half heartedly I wouldn't have been believable.
"But when I left I had no idea what to do next, because I hadn't had time to pull my head out of the sand or look beyond what I could see in front of my nose."
