Corrie's Karl to confess to killing Sunita
Coronation Street's Karl Munro will confess to on/off partner and Rovers Return landlady Stella Price he is responsible for the death of his former fling Sunita Alahan after he burnt down the pub
Coronation Street's Karl Munro is to confess to killing Sunita Alahan.
The twisted firestarter - who burnt down the Rovers Return pub, which killed firefighter Toni Griffiths (Tara Moran) and is set to claim the life of Sunita (Shobna Gulati) - will confess everything to his on/off partner and landlady Stella Price (Michelle Collins), but she refuses to believe he was the culprit.
John Michie - who plays Karl in the ITV soap - said: "At Sunita's funeral, it all gets too much for Karl and he feels like he'll burst if he doesn't get it off his chest.
"He tries to confess all to Stella - but she won't believe it! She thinks he's just blaming himself and being compassionate."
Stella sees Karl as her hero after he pulled her out of the blaze, and after he confesses to being the cobbles killer he feels some of his guilt is lifted off his shoulders.
John explained: "He breaks down and realises he must face the consequences - but Stella just kisses him!
"That's a cathartic moment. In Karl's mind, he's done what he needed to - he's confessed! That's his get-out-of-jail-free-card, because he's tried to tell Stella it was him."
As well as telling Stella the truth, Karl nearly lets his sordid secret slip when he is looking after Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and Sunita's children Asha and Aadi when Peter Barlow's (Chris Gascoyne) son Simon tells Asha her mum won't go to heaven because she started the fire.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: "Karl is like a child, and he reacts to what Simon says like a child would. He snaps back. His emotions are sky high, so he just loses it with anything that happens, even with a child.
"He definitely shows a violent side to himself."
