Dave Grohl has "already retired"

The Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer says he's not felt like he's had to work since the latter band's album 'Nevermind' - which has sold over 30 million copies to date - first became a hit at the end of 1991.

He said: "I've had jobs. I've had s***y jobs, manual labour, pizza restaurants, f***ing record stores, whatever.

"This is not a job. I've already retired. I retired the day 'Nevermind' went gold. The thing is, I get all these amazing opportunities and you'd be crazy not to take them."

Dave, 44, added he can't believe how much changed for him in the months after recording 'Nevermind' when Nirvana were taking off.

He told NME: "You know what's funny, recording [that album] at Sound City [studios] and playing Reading Festival [in England] happened within six months of each other. It was such a crazy year in my life. I was 22, I was a child. I was so dumb, but all those huge experiences happened in a short period of time. So i look back on that period in a very romantic light. To be young, to have the world in the palm of your hand, I wouldn't change a thing."
