Shane Richie blasts Corrie pub blaze

Shane Richie has blasted 'Coronation Street' for copying its pub fire plot from 'EastEnders'.
The actor - who plays Queen Vic landlord Alfie Moon in the BBC soap - slammed the ITV soap, which aired its explosive Rovers Return arson episode on Monday night (18.03.13), suggesting producers took cues from his show's similar storyline in 2010.
He told The Daily Star newspaper: "Corrie burned down the Rovers then. Is that after us burning down The Queen Vic? There is pattern there isn't there?"
Monday's episode of 'Coronation Street' saw landlady Stella Price (Michelle Collins) and Sunita Alahan (Shobna Gulati) trapped inside the blazing Rovers Return pub, with Sunita left fighting for her life in hospital as a result.
The plot is similar to the Walford soap's Queen Vic blaze in 2010 when landlady Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) had to be rescued after Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) set the local tavern alight.
Departing star Shobna, 46, has admitted she "shed a tear" watching the dramatic 'Coronation Street' episode on TV and sought comfort in co-star Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz.
She said: "I did shed a tear watching the episode back.
"I did get emotional and was actually so glad Jennie was with me. We filmed it all weeks ago so seeing it on the TV made me realise that I am no longer part of the show."
