Jonathan Creek special to air on Easter Monday
'Jonathan Creek' will return to BBC One on Easter Monday with a 90-minute special starring Alan Davies and Sheridan Smith, the BBC has confirmed
'Jonathan Creek' will air a one-off special on Easter Monday (01.04.13).
The mystery drama - which stars Alan Davies as the titular investigator - will return to BBC One on April 1 with a 90-minute episode entitled 'The Clue of the Savant's Thumb', the BBC has confirmed.
'Mrs. Biggs' star Sheridan Smith will also reprise her role as Jonathan's sidekick Joey Ross, who was first introduced in the show's 2009 New Year's Day special, 'The Grinning Man'.
Sheridan revealed it was "lovely" to return to the drama for the Easter episode, which will also star Joanna Lumley.
Speaking to Digital Spy, she said: "It's lovely to be back together. It's always the same cast and crew and we've also got Rik Mayall and Joanna Lumley this time. It's like having an old family back together."
Following the latest adventure, 'Jonathan Creek' - which ended its run as a regular series in 2004, but has aired three one-off specials since - will return for a three-part miniseries, according to Alan and the show's writer David Renwick. However, Sheridan isn't sure she'll be able to star in the new episodes because of her West End stage commitments.
She said: "I really want to be, but I'm going to be doing 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in the evenings. It depends if we can make it work. Fingers crossed.
"With Alan's hair and the duffel coat - I love him. He doesn't need anyone else. He doesn't need a sidekick."
'Jonathan Creek' airs on Easter Monday (01.04.13) at 8.30pm on BBC One.
