Shobna Gulati's Corrie tears
Shobna Gulati broke down in tears after filming her final scenes on 'Coronation Street'
Shobna Gulati couldn't stop crying when she left 'Coronation Street'.
The 46-year-old actress left the ITV soap earlier this month after playing Sunita Alahan for more than a decade and as she said her goodbyes to her co-stars Anne Kirkbride (Deirdre Barlow) and Jimmi Harkishin (Dev Alahan), she couldn't hold back the tears.
She said: "I was in tears when Anne Kirkbride gave me a hug on my last day. And when I was filming scenes with Sunita lying on the hospital bed, I cried again. It was the realisation that I wasn't going to be part of it anymore. Everyone just let me cry - they know me, they know I'm a stupid softie."
Shobna admits saying goodbye to Jimmi was the hardest to do because they had formed such a close bond over the years.
She added to HELLO! magazine: "Saying goodbye to Jimmi is hard because he's been the closest person from the beginning until the end. He said to me the other day that we have an unspoken knowledge when we work together. That is very rare and very special; when he said that, I cried."
