24 star Kiefer Sutherland arrested for drink driving
- 26 September 2007
Kiefer Sutherland was arrested on suspicion of drink driving just hours before he was due to be honoured by the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA).
The star of the hit TV thriller 24 was stopped by Los Angeles police near Beverly Hills after making an illegal U-turn.
A breath test found him to be under the legal alcohol limit and he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The Emmy-winning actor and son of Donald Sutherland was released on bail of $25.000 and is due to appear in court on October 16.
The ACTRA ceremony at the home of Canada’s Consul General in LA was expected to go ahead but would be closed to the media, a spokeswoman said.
