'Price Tag' pop star Jessie J has shaved her hair off for UK charity event 'Comic Relief', raising over £500,000 as she joined the likes of Simon Cowell on the biannual telethon

Jessie J has shaved her head for 'Comic Relief'.

The 'Domino' hitmaker raised more than £500,000 for the charity after getting rid of her trademark dark hair during the biannual telethon last night (15.03.13).

Speaking on air after the cut, she said: "It's the weirdest feeling. My mum's crying with happiness."

The 24-year-old singer revealed she wanted to raise funds by going bald because it will last longer than just a five minute stunt.

Jessie immediately thanked her followers on Twitter, adding she was "filled with happiness".

She wrote: "I am soooo thankful to everyone who has donated @rednoseday and supported me tonight! My heart is filled with happiness! Lets make a change! X (sic)"

The star also posted a photo on her Instagram account, calling for fans to continue donating.

She added: "I did it! Thank you to everyone who is donating! Please keep texting YES to 70010 x #headshave #comicrelief. (sic)"

Elsewhere on the event - which raises money every two years to help those in need both domestically and globally - music mogul Simon Cowell got married to himself in a comedy skit.

The mock wedding featured a number of guest appearances and was interrupted by David Walliams, Olly Murs, Louis Walsh, Dermot O'Leary and Sharon Osbourne - all wearing wedding dresses - as they each professed their love for the 'X Factor' boss.

As well as Peter Kay's sponsored 'sit-down' and the return of Ricky Gervais as his David Brent character from 'The Office', the show also featured a call-to-arms from 'Gavin & Stacey' favourite Smithy (James Corden).

Celebrities and the public alike have seen their charity efforts raise a record £75 million so far.
