'Doctor Who' star Matt Smith kissed Dawn French today (15.03.13) to raise money for 'Comic Relief'.

The 30-year-old actor - who plays the titular Time Lord - snogged the actress to make £50 for the charity and he also locked lips with Dawn's comedy partner Jennifer Saunders, insisting both smooches were "nice".

Matt was quizzed about kissing Dawn at a press conference to launch the new series of 'Doctor Who' in London today (15.03.13), to which he replied: "I did (snog) her - for £50 - and Jennifer Saunders! It was nice. I had a good time. For £50 a snog if it raises a bit of money for 'Comic Relief' I'm up for it."

Matt and Dawn locked lips in the BBC Radio 2 offices as part of her and Jennifer's takeover of the station today for the fundraising event.

When the big moment happened, the 55-year-old comedienne grabbed the sci-fi star firmly by the head and thrust his lips into hers.

BBC Radio 2 took its Twitter account to reveal the moment posting a photo of the kiss along with the caption: "A huge moment in #ComicRelief history! Dawn French snogging Matt Smith!! (sic)"

The annual 'Comic Relief' fundraising telethon airs on BBC One tonight and features the return of The Office's David Brent, who will be seen trying to become a Simon Cowell-type music mogul, Damian Lewis appearing in a 'Vicar of Dibley' special opposite Dawn and Jessie J shaving her head to get cash for the charity.
